Non-ferrous metals

The branch of plastics processing, just like all other manufacturing sectors, constantly tries to reduce the costs of elements made from plastics. This can be achieved first of all due to three factors:

  • Cost of the plastics which is connected with their weight
  • Cost of tools used for moulding
  • Cost of business – typically these are highest expenses, to a significant extent dependent on the time of production cycle and efficiency of tools.

The time of the production cycle can be reduced when using for making tools materials which have appropriate thermal conductivity.

The Transcorn company offers a wide range of innovative alloys of exceptional conductivity and mechanical properties, developed in order to meet the high requirements of the plastic processing industry and others.

YOU CAN FIND IN OUR OFFER:

  • ALUMINIUM ,
  • ELECTROLYTIC COPPER,
  • COPPER ALLOYS  INCLUDING BRONZES AND BRASS

ALUMINIUM Al

Aluminium alloys feature high strength properties, very good thermal conductivity and average resistance to corrosion, as well as very good machinability and polishability. It is excellent for erosion machining. It is adequate for galvanic treatment. It is recommended for blow moulds, moulds for foamed plastics, plates, bases, guiding heads and punch heads in press and punching dies.

ELECTROLITIC COPPER

It is used for the production of electrodes for die-sinking erosion machines. Due to its relatively low production cost it is much more often used than the only metal with high electric conductivity, i.e. silver.

Electrolytic copper has many advantages due to which it is so popular. These non-ferrous metal features:

  • Electric conductivity equal to 101% IACS
  • High plasticity and tensile strength
  • Resistance to corrosion and creeping
  • High thermal conductivity
  • Good solderability

COPPER ALLOYS

BRONZES

AMPCO 18

Its exceptional resistance to wear and fatigue this alloy has due to the controlled double phase α and β. This alloy has high strength in connection with good drawability and exceptional hardness. The physical properties of the alloy can be changed by heat treatment.

It is recommended as the standard material for all applications where good slip properties; resistance to wear and fatigue, hardness and/or resistance to deformation under load are required. The alloy AMPCO 18 is used in steel plants for nuts, sliders, gears, wedges and breaker blocks in rolling mills, and also for bearings, guides, core inserts, roller bearings and bending tools.

The alloy AMPCO 18 features excellent resistance to oxidation and is used for pickling some elements such as hooks, cages, spacers etc. It is attested for contact with food.

AMPCOLOY 83, CuBe2

The bronze AMPCOLOY 83 has high thermal and electric conductivity and high hardness, about 380HB. It is highly resistant to corrosion. AMPCOLOY 83 is used by manufacturers of moulds for plastics and for permanent moulds and mould inserts, cooling pins and neck moulds or bottom plates for blow moulding of bottles. AMPCOLOY 83 is used where high resistance to wear is required or good mechanical strength together with good electric or thermal conductivity.

Because the alloy AMPCOLOY 83 contains 2% beryllium, during processing which is connected with emission of dust or vapours (e.g., dry grinding, honing or welding) you should protect your respiratory tract, eyes and skin. Conventional machining (e.g., milling or turning) is not regarded as dangerous.

AMPCOLOY 940 without beryllium

The bronze AMPCOLOY 940 has excellent thermal conductivity (higher than AMPCOLOY 83), contains no beryllium, its hardness is about 210 HB. It is cheaper than AMPCOLOY 83. The alloy AMPCOLOY 940 is suitable for elements of moulds for plastics as it improves heat removal. The moulds from it are up to 30% more productive. The alloy AMPCOLOY 940 is used for electrodes for fusion welding especially stainless steels

AMPCOLOY 944 without beryllium

AMPCOLOY 944 is used everywhere where good thermal conductivity and high mechanical strength is required and when the bronzes with beryllium are used, i.e.: electrode mountings, electrodes for spot welding, wheels for linear fusion welding, spot and projection welding matrices, mainly for stainless steel and Monel, ends of rams for metal pressure casting machines with cold chamber, parts for thermoplastic injection moulding, injection nozzles and cooling pins.

AMPCOLOY 972 CuCrZr

The alloy AMPCOLOY® 972 is used for ends of fusion welding electrodes, parts of electrical devices, parts of presses. It retains good mechanical properties at temperatures of 300˚C - 500˚C. It has high electrical conductivity

AMPCOLOY 95 CuCoNiBe

AMPCOLOY® 95 has other applications due to its mechanical properties. It is mainly used for the production of electrodes for spot welding, cross joint welding, mountings for electrodes, welding wheels for stainless steel, Monel and Nickel alloys, matrices for spark welding, endings of rams for aluminium pressure casting machines, and also parts of injection moulds for thermoplastics which require high thermal conductivity.

BRASSES

Brass MO 58 A Cu59Zn40Pb2.

Tungsten Copper  CuW

It is ideally suitable for electrodes for erosion of materials which are difficult for machining.
This alloy features high resistance to wear with very good electrical conductivity and small thermal expansion.

Copper content: 10%, 20%, 22%, 25%, 30% , 44%.

All material we provide are in the form of bars, flats, plates, sheets, bands, pipes, sleeves are cut into parts with the required dimensions.
